PMP Collective

From Bin, one of the founders of PMP:

PMP  is an audiovisual collective made up of Ivan, Felix and Bin. PMP focuses on creating works that explores the interaction between sound and visuals, steering away from the notion that sound is often secondary to visuals or vice versa. Being a young collective that is barely a year old, we have been dabbing both in the design and art field with works for clients such as fred perry, parco and artistic performances such as the upcoming “Perceptio” for the Singapore M1 Fringe Festival ( Sonic Fringe ).

Our works always start off from a conceptual seed, an idea that excites or inspire us. From the seed stage, we move on to creating a “score sheet” that is really more like a mood chart. The reason being that we want to try  creating music and visuals concurrently and not being dependent on one another. Sometimes we get very nice surprises, sometimes … we don’t. Such a workflow is very experiential for us as a group and in a way our works become tangible. For example, in our upcoming work “Perceptio”. We went around singapore collecting sound and visual samples for use in the performance. Such field recordings allow us to think and feel more deeply for the subject matter and sometimes our perception of things change as a result. So we would say that we have a very process oriented workflow.

PMP will be staging an audio-visual concert at the Esplanade Theatre Studio on the 15th of January as part of the Singapore Fringe Festival 2011. Go check out their website for more of their awesome work.
